It is often said that silence speaks loudest. The voices of those that encourage a violent and corrupt society seem to be entertaining, while the rest of us go day to day hoping for change. Our Foundation recognizes the simple yet often ignored principle that change must begin with us. Laminin Foundation has responded to the need for persons willing to give self sacrifice to the upliftment of fellow citizens. Our teams are comprised of dedicated members and volunteers who believe it is our responsibility and purpose to help those in need as we go about our lives. As Christians, the principle of self sacrifice is embedded in our very existence and is thus the principle we live by.

Our Responsibility

Our Mission
By harnessing the full potential of our volunteers, the Laminin Foundation strives to create sustainable positive impacts that enhance the lives of individuals and families, including the most vulnerable, in communities and institutions across Trinidad and Tobago.
While caring becomes as outdated value in society, we hold it as foundational in all we do. We care, and empower others to care
Caring
01
Because we place high a value on life, respect becomes easy. We treat others with dignity and find joy in providing their needs
Respect
02
Our foundation's culture is based on truth and transparency, which protects all stakeholders that join hands with us and all whom we serve
Honesty
03
There is little joy in helping some and watching others in need when your passion is to serve, and thus we aim to serve all
Diversity
04
Our ministries are often sensitive in nature, and thus we provide a culture where all can feel safe and trust is always maintained
Trust
05
Our team members and volunteers have continually demonstrated their desires to go beyond in efforts to reach and help others
Selflessness

From 2001 to Present
Formally incorporated in 2024, the Laminin Foundation traces its origins back to 2001 as the Healing Ministries Group. At a mid-year summit of that year, young people from across the island gathered in a spiritually charged environment and were challenged to develop creative strategies in meeting the needs of the community. In this setting, Kirt James (now pastor James) shared an inspirational model of intergenerational ministry that left an indelible impression on the persons present. Not long after, due to physical decline of the elderly pioneers, a new movement of youthful enthusiasm embraced the call to serve in the hospital ministry.

The first visit started with 3 or 4 volunteers but quickly grew and expanded to a peak of approximately 40 persons per visit. It also expanded from the confines of the Port of Spain hospital to eventually include Mt. Hope, Sangre Grande, and San Fernando hospitals respectively. The services offered by the Healing Ministries Group further expanded to include the adoption of the Casa De Corazon children’s Home. In its current iteration, now rebranded as the Laminin Foundation, additional lines of ministry have been added to those that previously existed, thereby allowing new personnel the opportunity utilize a wider range of skills and explore a greater variety of outreach interests. The most significant difference between what it was previously, and what it is now, is the intentional supportive structures in place to support new members and volunteers. From volunteer recruitment to volunteer training, the documenting of volunteer involvement to data management, volunteer support, retention and appreciation, all to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability in service to God and humanity.
